James Thornton Lawrence, age 69 of Kiowa, CO formerly of Dunbar, WV passed away Tuesday, January 1st, 2013 at home surrounded by his family. He is survived by his wife Barbara Jean Spry Lawrence of 48 years. They were married in Dunbar WV on Nov. 20, 1964. Also survived by Daughter Michelle Prokop-husband Brandon, Son Michael Lawrence, Daughter Melinda Lawrence-Doupe all of Kiowa, CO; Grandchildren: Jamie Dolin-Prokop, Reise K. Prokop, J.R. Prokop, Drake Prokop, Tanner James Lawrence-Doupe, Maya Lawrence and Ruby Lawrence; Great grandchildren: Landon Dolin, Marlayna Dolin-deceased. Also, Nieces Mona Hudson and Patty Wilson. He is preceded in death by his Father James Thornton Lawrence, Mother Charlotte Toney Ownby and Sister Elva Elaine Wilson.
Jim was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend.
In his spare time he enjoyed the outdoors, camping, car shows, taking care of his rose garden and quality time with his family and friends. His gracious smile, kind hearted, and caring spirit will be missed by many.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests that donations be made to Childrens Hospital of Aurora.
