Listen to Obituary

Born on February 11, 1972, Jamie D. Ward—lovingly known to many as “Wild Child Ward”—passed away peacefully on June 3, 2026, in Denver, Colorado, at the age of 54.Jamie lived life with a “Wide Open Throttle.” He pursued his goals with relentless energy, turned thoughts into action, and consistently chose courage over comfort. He embraced life fearlessly and gave everything he had to the people and passions he loved most: his family and friends, racing, and simply living each day to its fullest.Jamie fought the good fight; he finished the race; and he kept the faith. Family and friends remember him as a hero, a mentor, and truly one in a million. Highly empathetic, intuitive, and sensitive, he had a deep sense of home and family. He was respected by all who knew him and served as an inspiration to many. Those closest to him believe the world would be a better place if everyone lived like Jamie. Those who knew Jamie best describe him as one of the kindest souls they ever met -- someone who lit up a room with his genuine smile and warm heart. His ability to bring joy to those around him was one of his most treasured qualities, leaving a lasting impact on everyone who crossed his path.Jamie attended Sheridan High School, where he was jokingly referred to as a “Billy Goat,” a playful nod to the school’s Ram mascot. He was a dedicated athlete, excelling in baseball and football, and his early love of sports grew into a lifelong appreciation for athleticism, competition, and teamwork.Jamie was a proud and devoted employee of PDA Road Gear for 33 years, retiring only when his health no longer allowed him to continue. His colleagues were far more than coworkers—they were family. Jamie held deep appreciation for the Dunahay family and the entire PDA community, cherishing the relationships he built over more than three decades.Beyond his professional life, Jamie’s heart belonged to the racetrack. His love for racing was widely known, and there was no place he would rather be than Colorado National Speedway. When he wasn’t at CNS, he was traveling—by plane, motorhome, or car—with family and friends to attend racing events across the country. Whether it was NASCAR races, open‑wheel dirt track events, or simply enjoying time at home watching races on TV with loved ones, racing remained one of Jamie’s greatest joys.Jamie’s vibrant spirit extended far beyond the track. He enjoyed life’s simple pleasures, including playing softball and sharing a Bud Light with friends and family during moments of laughter and celebration. Among his many virtues, his commitment to nurturing his closest relationships best illuminated the depth of his heart.Among Jamie’s proudest accomplishments were his children, Brook Ann (Jeremy) and Chance Wayne, along with his grandchildren, Rylin Ann and Stetson Allen. Jamie and Aleita’s love story—married for 34 years—stands as a testament to deep commitment, patience, and unwavering devotion. Their marriage was a journey of shared triumphs and challenges, mutual protection, and enduring love, gracefully shaped over time.Jamie was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Marvin and Beverly Ward, whose values and guidance profoundly shaped the man he became. Their memory remained close to his heart, and they are loved and missed by all who knew them. He is also survived by his brother, Greg Ward.Jamie’s life was a beautiful journey—marked by love, laughter, and an unmistakable passion for living fully. Whether on a sports field, a racetrack, at work, or surrounded by family, he touched every life he encountered. His spirit will live on in the hearts of all who loved him, a lasting reminder of a life well lived and a man deeply cherished.Rest in peace and Fly High, Wild Child Ward—WOT #21. Though we are heartbroken by your absence, your love and legacy will forever remain a guiding light in our lives.
