Janette H. Dodrill

Janette Helene (Briggs) Dodrill was born in Providence, Rhode Island on June 10, 1931. Jan was the fourth child of Harold and Helene Briggs. She had two older brothers, Paul and Harold (Red) and an older sister, Virginia. Her family moved to Dillon, Colorado in the mid 1930's and later to Grand Junction, Colorado where she graduated from High School.
She met Dale Dodrill on a blind date, set up by her older brother, Red. They were married in Englewood, Colorado on February 28, 1954. Their eldest son, Garrett, was born December 5, 1955 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Michael joined the family on September 14, 1957 in Denver, Colorado. Their third son, David was born in Denver, Colorado on August 12, 1961. Michael went to be with the Lord in April of 1964.
Jan enjoyed canning, baking, cooking, playing bridge and taking care of her boys. She enjoyed being involved with her church, especially teaching Sunday School and was remembered for the songs she taught the kids. She crocheted afghans for adults and children. She also enjoyed making seasonal crocheted crafts. Gatherings with friends and family and traditions for the holidays were especially important to Jan. She enjoyed international traveling including Spain, France, China, Australia, New Zealand, Dubai, Africa, Mexico, Canada, Hawaii, Europe and many cruises.
Jan had three grandkids, Rachael, Isaac and Sarah. She loved taking them swimming, going on squeegee hunts and traveling with the family to Alaska and on the Disney cruise.
During her later years, she battled with Alzheimer disease and went to be with the Lord on November 7, 2015. She is preceded in death by her parents, her siblings and her son Michael. She is survived by her husband, Dale her two sons, Garrett and David, her daughter in law Sharon and her 3 grandkids, Rachael, Isaac and Sarah.

A Memorial service is planned for Saturday, November 14, 2015 at 11:00 am at Light and Life Community Church; 220 South Yarrow Street; Lakewood, Colorado 80226.
