Janina Janus died November 6, 2014 in Denver, Colorado. She was born to Jozefa and Adolf Pietruszewski in Lwow, Poland on January 1, 1924. She was 90 years old.
Janina was taken to Germany as a young woman and held as a labor prisoner working on German farms. She then worked as an interpreter for the U.S. Army. After the war, Janina came to the United States. She lived in Chicago where she met her husband of 60 years, Julian Januszczyk. The family moved to Denver, Colorado in 1970.
Janina was an accomplished seamstress. Her work was impeccable. She was an elegant woman who made friends easily. She was a loving and kind mother. She loved animals dearly. She traveled all over the world on cruises. She loved to cook and made wonderful food.
Janina is preceded in death by her husband Julian, survived by her children Barbara Velasco of Chicago, IL, Christine Reese of Denver, CO, Miranda (Rob Marinko) Janus of Burbank, CA; her 4 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandchild.
She lived a wonderful and long life. She will be missed dearly.
