Jeanette Doris Schlager

December 14, 1933 — November 16, 2024

Jeanette Doris Schlager (Eisenbarth) was born December 14th, 1933 in Yoder, Wyoming, the daughter of Carl and Lydia (Duetscher) Eisenbarth. She was one of thirteen children and grew up on the family farm with her many siblings. Jeanette received her high school education in nearby Torrington, Wyoming. A memorable story was of how she became a cheerleader in high school, being picked off the bus and taken to cheer practice. She met her future lifelong husband while still in high school at a polka dance. Their love for dancing the “Dutch Hop” brought them together for the rest of their lives. Jeanette married Lawrence Schlager February 15, 1953. They welcomed their first child Kenneth Schlager on March 12, 1955 while living in Casper, Wyoming. In 1961 they moved to Aurora, Colorado where Lawrence was stationed at Buckley Air Force Base. Ten years, one month and twelve days after the birth of their first child, their youngest daughter Cathy Samuelson (Schlager) was born on April 24th, 1965. Jeanette was always an incredible people person and retired from King Soopers after over thirty years of service where she enjoyed interacting with customers, especially children. Sunday dinners made in her kitchen were always crowded with family and friends. Cornish Hens, kraut burgers, pork chops with gravy, and jello for dessert were family favorites. Jeanette enjoyed bird watching and collected many bird knick knacks over the years, which were displayed on every surface of her home. “I love you, a bushel and a peck and a hug around the neck” will always be a song to remember her by.

Jeanette is survived by her daughter Cathy and her husband Curt Samuelson; a brother Gerald Eisenbarth; four grandchildren Brian Kindsvater, Shawn Schlager, Nicole Samuelson, and Heather Samuelson; and three great grandchildren Natalie, Jacob, and Joshua Kindsvater.

Jeanette’s services will be held on December 2, 2024 at Fort Logan National Cemetery at 1:30pm. Please arrive 15 minutes early at 1:15pm to staging area A. Reception to follow.
