Listen to Obituary

Jeanie Carol Cutforth, née Cox, passed away on May 22, 2026, in her beloved hometown of Denver, Colorado. Born on September 27, 1943, Jeanie's life was a beautiful tapestry woven with love, dedication, and an enduring spirit that touched all who knew her.

Jeanie graduated from South High School in Denver in 1961, marking the beginning of a life filled with compassion and commitment. In August 1962, she married William "Bill" Cutforth, whom she met at church camp. Their marriage blossomed into nearly 64 years of unwavering partnership, shared adventures, and deep love.

As a stay-at-home mom, Jeanie devoted herself wholeheartedly to raising her five children — John (Brenda), Daniel (Cherri), Carol Hlebichuk (Francis), Corrie (David), and Michael (Jen). Her children hold dear the memory of a mother who always showed up when they needed her most, offering steadfast support during times of trouble. Through her nurturing spirit, they flourished, and she remained their anchor throughout life’s journeys.

Later in life, Jeanie embraced new challenges with remarkable courage, returning to school in her fifties to earn her LPN certification. Nursing became her calling, a second career born of her immense desire to care for others. This achievement stood as one of her proudest, a testament to her perseverance and heart.

Jeanie’s love for family extended beyond the immediate to a vibrant and growing circle of 21 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren, each of whom brought her immense joy and pride. She was also a cherished sister to Bill Cox (Judy), and though she has preceded in death by her parents William and Fern Cox, siblings Sandra Alley (Russell), Nancy Bowman (Gordon), and James Cox, and grandchildren Jeremy and Seth Cutforth, their memories remain forever in her heart.

Long before her nursing days, Jeanie and Bill shared a profound calling, dedicating over 12 years to missionary work in Bolivia. Together, they built a home on the Chapare River and lived a life of service that reflected their faith and generosity of spirit. This chapter of her life was a cornerstone of her fulfillment and pride.

Family was everything to Jeanie. She was the storyteller whose eyes lit up with every tale, the always-ready guide with the perfect recommendation for a back road in Colorado or a secret picnic spot. Her passions included road trips, camping, and the natural beauty of the Colorado mountains—activities embraced with enthusiasm and a joyful willingness to get lost along the way. Her garden bloomed as vibrantly as her spirit, an expression of her love for flowers and the simple joys of life.

Among fond memories, Bill recalls with warmth the Saturday nights spent together at City Park, attending Youth for Christ events in the 1970s—a time of fellowship, faith, and enduring friendship.

Visitation will be held on June 2, 2026, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, West Metro, located at 901 S Sheridan Blvd, Denver, CO 80226. Jeanie Carol Cutforth’s legacy is one of love, resilience, and a boundless heart. She leaves behind a family whose lives she shaped profoundly, a community enriched by her kindness, and a world made better by her gentle spirit. Though she has departed, her stories live on, whispered in the Colorado winds and blooming in every flower she so tenderly nurtured.
