Jeffrey Scott Hawthorne, 54, of Bennett, CO passed away Friday, May 30, 2014. He was a beloved husband, father, brother, and son.
Jeff was born on July 11, 1959 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. After graduating from Milton High School in 1978, Jeff earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Colorado State University on May 14, 1983. On June 21, 1986, Jeff was married to Elizabeth Sheppard, and they lived in Aurora, Colorado before moving to Bennett, Colorado in 1994.
Jeff was an outstanding electrical engineer. In addition to a number of patents, Jeff was the inventor of the Secure Continuous Remote Alcohol Monitoring bracelet, or SCRAM for short. He was the Chief Technology Officer and an Expert Witness for Alcohol Monitoring Systems.
Jeff was passionate about the outdoors. He loved the mountains and enjoyed camping, hunting, hiking, or any other activity that would get him outside. He also had a deep love for sports. He took great pleasure in coaching his sons' baseball, soccer, and basketball teams up until High School.
Jeff is survived by his wife Elizabeth, and three sons, Jason, Jeremy, and Jeffrey. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Lauren Linio, in 2012.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made out in Jeff's name to Anschutz Cancer Pavilion at University of Colorado Hospital.
Services will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home, Saturday, June 7, 2014 at 10:00AM, followed by burial at East Lawn Cemetery.
