Jeffrey John Cory
June 24, 1951 – August 31, 2014
Jeffrey John Cory, 63, of Kremmling passed away peacefully in Littleton, Colorado August 31, 2014. He was surrounded by family, friends and the nurturing staff of CareMeridian.
Jeff was born in Toledo, Ohio to Ace Rowland Cory and Carol Somerville Cory. Jeff grew up in Toledo, Ohio, Kansas City, Missouri and Omaha, Nebraska, spending summers at Lake Okoboji, Iowa. He attended Colorado Academy and graduated from Westside High School in Omaha. He also studied at the University of Nebraska.
For most of his career, Jeff was a surveyor in Colorado, working for a time as an engineer with the Colorado Dept. of Transportation. He served on the Summit County Search and Rescue for years. Jeff loved the mountains and nature. He was an expert skier and avid outdoorsman. Jeff also had a passion for water, and especially for sailing. He was a licensed boat captain, and at one time operated a fishing excursion boat in Florida waters. Jeff was a gifted photographer, in particular with photographs set in the outdoors, the scenes ranging from crowded sailboats during a regatta, to approaching storms, to quiet views of a mountainside. He had a sharp sense of humor, a keen intelligence, and a loving heart.
Jeff is survived by Cathy Fernandez, Kim Wann, Connie Cory, Web Cory, C.J. Gibson, Darcy Berglund, Kyle Gibson, Chan Gibson, a niece and nephews. Jeff is preceded in death by his parents. A Memorial Service will be held for Jeff at 2:00 pm on Saturday, September 27th at CareMeridian, 5945 S. Wright St., Littleton, CO 80127.
