Jennie Gonzales Tanner, aged 88, died peacefully on April 25, 2017 in Denver, Colorado. Jennie was born May 6, 1928 in La Junta, Colorado to Octaviano and Frances Gonzales.
Jennie thoroughly enjoyed being a caregiver for both her family and others. Jennie married Joe C. Tanner in Las Animas, Colorado in 1951 and in 1968 moved to Denver, Colorado where she worked many years as a nurse practitioner. She lovingly cared for her five children and countless others in hospitals and nursing homes. She was a devoted Catholic and enjoyed being surrounded by her family whether it was her siblings or her great grandchildren. Jennie was known for her strong spirit and love for life.
In addition to raising her children Jennie worked full time. She was a great cook spent her spare time watching the Denver Broncos after church on Sunday. She enjoyed dancing with Joe on Saturday nights.
Jennie is survived by her husband Joe C. Tanner and her sisters; sons, Jerry, and Gregory, and Daughters, Rose & Amelia of Denver and Betty Jo of Virginia. Grandchildren, Christine, Denise, Erica, Angelo, Melissa, Danielle; numerous nieces and nephews; and a large family of relatives and close friends.
There will be a Memorial Mass for Jennie at St. Cajetan's Church, 299 So. Raleigh St., Denver, on Monday May 1, 2017 at 2:00 PM.
