Jerry Grasmick

March 31, 1950 — June 12, 2012

Jerry Jon Grasmick (JJ or JG) was born on March 31, 1950 in Pueblo, Colorado to Hilbert and Betty Jo Grasmick. He is survived by wife of thirty-three years Victoria C. Grasmick, children Zachary David (26) and Brittany Taylor (24), brother James Hilbert Grasmick, and mother Betty Jo (91).

Jerry attended George Washington High School, class of '68. He graduated from The University of Colorado-Boulder with a degree in Finance and Real Estate. Jerry also earned graduate degrees from Stanford University, Northwestern University, and The University of Notre Dame.

The early part of his career was spent in the banking, mortgage, and real estate industries. Jerry was very much of an entrepreneur—he built a successful mortgage company from scratch with his wife, Vickie. In addition to starting his own business, you could always find him rattling off his next big idea. "You know what I'd like to do…" was how he often started out. After 15 successful years running his company, he moved into a new career as VP of Sales at Dish Network.

A native to Colorado, Jerry enjoyed all things outdoors, whether it was playing golf with his son, hiking 14ers with his daughter, attending CU football and basketball games with his wife, BBQ-ing for his family, or escaping to Beaver Creek for a weekend of skiing.

Jerry was diagnosed with Melanoma on October 1, 2008. During his fight, Jerry was able to spend quality time with his family. Jerry's work ethic and determination were inspiring. Even through his sickness, Jerry continued to show up for work. He amazed co-workers, friends, and family with the obstacles he conquered. He was often and appropriately referred to as "Superman"—a fitting name for someone who freed himself from the chains of cancer and won his battle on June 12, 2012.

JG could command a room—even make people believe he was the Senator of Colorado. He was surely a Maverick and one that will be missed. His life was dedicated to integrity, dignity, hard work, humor, and love for his family. JJ would want you to remember him as a loving brother, devoted husband, wonderful father, and good friend.

We miss you already and love you with all of our hearts, Jer!
