Jerry Reed went home to be with his heavenly Father on June 3, 2025, at the age of 85 in Kansas City, Missouri. A Colorado native, Jerry was born on May 18, 1940, in Arvada, where he was the eldest of three children and graduated from high school in 1958. In July 1959, Jerry volunteered for the draft and enlisted in the United States Army. He completed his basic training at Fort Hood, Texas, before reporting to the Brooklyn Army Terminal in New York in January 1960.

Upon returning to Colorado, he began attending college in pursuit of a teaching career. During this time, he fell in love and married Dorothea that marked the beginning of a loving relationship that spanned an incredible 61 years. Together, they created a Christian home for their children, Vonda (Phil) and Scot (Debbie), laying a firm foundation of love and support that continues to resonate through their family. Jerry’s legacy continues through his grandchildren – Jeramey, Travis, Amber, and Adam – as well as his three great-grandchildren. He devoted 37 years to the Department of Energy at Rocky Flats, where he finished his career as a Stationary Engineer manager.

Jerry lived a life of faith which showed his love and commitment to God. Throughout his lifetime, he devoted himself to various ministries within the church. Many lives were touched by God from his heartfelt prayers offered on their behalf. His joy came from helping others, whether from an encouraging call, a hospital visit, a meal provided, or his unwavering support to various ministries.

He lived a life centered around his devotion to his family and friends. His life was woven into everyone, leaving behind so many cherished memories and enduring connections. His children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren were the light of his life. He took immense pride in their achievements and found joy in their laughter and milestones, always ready with a word of encouragement, gift of support, or a listening ear. As a cherished friend, Jerry had the ability to make everyone feel welcome and his caring presence left an indelible mark on many hearts. He enjoyed reading about history, taking his family on vacations around the world, and playing table games with his family and friends.

Jerry is now reunited with his beloved parents Glen and Eleanor and sister Judy, leaving behind his younger sister Lana. His life is a reminder of God’s love and grace, and he will always remain in the hearts of all those who knew him.
