Jesse Leon Ellis of Lafayette CO passed away on Thursday, May 29, 2014 in Denver CO. Jesse was 82 years of age.
He was born to Fred and Lucy Ellis on July 14, 1931 in Eufaula, OK. Soon after his birth his family moved to Benfranklin, TX where he lived until he enlisted in the Army in1950. He served in the infantry during the Korean War until 1952. He earned the bronze star and received a Purple Heart. After the war Jesse attended and graduated from the Bible Baptist Seminary in Fort worth TX where he met and went on to married Rose M Hutchinson. They went on to have two sons and a daughter - Joe, Robert and Brenda Ellis. His daughter Brenda gave him a grandson named Jacob Tulles. And his son Joe gave him a granddaughter named Christina Ellis. He lived and raised his family in Huston, Texas until the death of his wife.
He eventually was remarried to Betty J Telford of Denver Colorado. And began a new chapter in his life with Betty and her family, they moved from Huston, Texas to Colorado 14 years ago. Jesse loved Colorado and he and Betty spent a lot of there time taking trips to the beautiful Rocky Mountains and enjoying family outings. Jessie's interest was Ministry, Volunteer work, Family, and Traveling. He loved taking trips with Betty in their RV to Texas to visit family and to places they had not been before. Jesse also was a people person. Where ever he was, whether taking a walk around the block or on trip with Betty, he would strike up a conversation with anyone he came across in hopes of brightening their day or making a new friend. He will be missed dearly by family and friends alike. Jesse will be laid to rest at 11:00 am on Friday, June 6, 2014 at Fort Logan National Cemetery where he will be given full military honors.
Jesse was survived by His wife Betty J. Ellis; Joe and Betty Ellis, Robert and Penny Ellis, Catherine Ellis, and Louise Ellis; Christiana Ellis, Sam and Aleta and Jacob Tulles, Hurb and Julie Valdez, Jamie Telford, Arrias Telford, Daniel and Diana Telford, Dustin Telford, Jessica Woodard, Sage Woodard, Nathan, Jessica and Andrew Powell, Chris Tiffany and Theresa Tiffany.
Jesse is preceded in death by Rose M Ellis. His daughter Brenda Tulles. His brothers Harvey and James Ellis. And his parents Fred and Lucy Ellis.
