Jimmie Fulton Gibson, son of late father Herman Gibson and step-mother Goldie Gibson, died on August 15, 2014 after battling cancer. Known to many as Jim "Hoot" Gibson, he is survived by loving family and friends.
"Hoot" grew up in Christopher, Kentucky. He joined the service and served his Country honorably and proudly for 28 years. A veteran of the Vietnam War, his bravery earned him several medals, including the Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Service Commendations Medal, and Good Conduct Medals along with Campaign Stars and Oak Leaf Clusters.
He received many other commendations for his dedication and courage. His friends and family can attest to the discipline and patriotism he learned in the Air Force had never left him. He retired with honors from the US Air Force as a Senior Master Sergeant.
He was a Life Member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW).
Quick to offer a smile to anyone passing by, he spent most of his days in pursuit of his passion: fishing. He enjoyed spending his days fishing on his boat. He also enjoyed gardening and golfing. Jim was a loving father, grandfather, and a friend to all. He will be loved and missed.
