Joan Elizabeth Feller, of Aurora, Colorado passed away March 1, 2025.
Joan was born in Richmond borough, New York (later named Staten Island) on April 11, 1934 to Louis and Emma Lupia. Both she and her older sister, Shirley, grew up in the New York area. Joan graduated in 1952 from Richmond Hill High School in Queens, New York. Three years later she married Angelo Efthemios on June 12, 1955. During their five-year marriage, Joan and Angelo were blessed with two daughters, Elizabeth Ann and Joan Marie. Angelo passed on January 14, 1961.
Joan with her two girls followed Louis and Emma to Aurora, Colorado where she met Tom Feller in 1963 and was married a year later. Joan and Tom expanded their family to include two sons, Louis and Kevin. She and Tom were married 57 years before Tom’s passing on June 30, 2021.
During Joan’s earlier years in Colorado, she volunteered with the Boy Scouts of America and after the children were older, she was a part time volunteer at the VA hospital for over 14 years. Joan loved camping and the outdoors. She and Tom spent winters camping in Lakewood, New Mexico; Rockport, Texas; and Casa Grande, Arizona and summers at a lot they owned in Nathrop, Colorado. Her hobbies included attending balloon festivals, bird watching, hiking, watching meteor showers, soaking in hot springs, reading mystery/crime novels and working on jigsaw puzzles.
Joan is survived by her four children (Elizabeth Fink; Joan Efthemios, Louis Feller, and Kevin Feller); six grandchildren, and several great grandchildren. Joan is preceded in death by her parents Louis and Emma Lupia; her sister, Shirley Hawrey; and two husbands, Angelo Efthemios and Tom Feller.
Services are to be held on Thursday, April 3, 2025.
