Joann (Blair) Welsh

JoAnn was born on January 30, 1938 in Denver, Colorado, and passed away on June 2, 2011 in Centennial, CO. She was the only child of Virleen and Obert Head. Obert was killed in a work related accident when JoAnn was just an infant, and Virleen remarried a few years later to Dale O. Blair. Dale adopted JoAnn, and her name was changed from Head to Blair at that time. JoAnn lived in Commerce City throughout her childhood and graduated from Adams City High School in 1955. She married Larry Welsh on May 10, 1958, and via the United States Army, they became travelers, living in Germany twice together as well as various cities across the U.S. Larry and Jo moved to Miami, FL in 1972 and maintained their residence there through Larry's retirement from the Army in 1980 and until 1989 when they both officially retired. JoAnn worked for Southern Bell as a directory assistance operator for many years. At that time, they moved to Live Oak, FL, and enjoyed 20 years there together on their acreage in the country. Wherever they lived, they always grew a fabulous garden, and Jo was skilled in the art of home canning and freezing the produce. JoAnn was preceded in death by Larry, who passed away on October 29, 2009. JoAnn is survived by her daughters, Donna Nichols of Reidsville, NC, and Holly Campbell, of Centennial, CO. In December of 2009, JoAnn returned to the Denver area to live with Holly and her family.
