Joanne Schuch Coburn, 86, of Aurora, departed this life peacefully at home on March 1, 2017, her 59th wedding anniversary. She was born in Augusta, Kansas on November 30, 1930, to Leland and Frances (Beeler) Schuch. She spent many of her childhood summers with her beloved Grandmother, Josephine Beeler, then later, her Aunt Jean and Uncle Harry Russell on their ranches along the Little Snake River in Colorado and Wyoming.
Joanne graduated from East High School. She attended DU on a scholarship, graduating with honors, and with a degree in teaching and mathematics. She taught second grade in Cunningham and Highline Elementary Schools for over thirty years, and in 1986, was honored as teacher of the year.
Joanne loved the Lord and the study of His Word. She was a skilled seamstress, and made her daughter's wedding dress, which her granddaughter also wore. She enjoyed baking bread each week as her family grew up, and cinnamon rolls were a special treat.
Joanne married the love of her life, Leonard Coburn, on March 1, 1958. They were married for 59 years.
Joanne is survived by her husband Leonard; daughters, Kathleen and husband Rick Haynes, of Ovid, Colorado; Mary and husband Steve Smith of Sterling, Colorado, 5 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, and uncle, Harry Russell.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, John Phillip Schuch; sister, Theodoris Schuch, and aunt, Jean Russell.
