It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Joette Shirley Whiteman. She passed away peacefully at The Denver Hospice on Friday, January 3, 2025, while under hospice care.
She leaves behind her children Darlene, Danny, and daughter-in-law Kathy, David, and daughter-in-law, whom she called daughter, La Vonne, all mourn her loss deeply.
Joette was a proud grandma to Melissa and her husband Casey, Michelle, Serina and her husband Abe, Joseph and his wife Robin, William, and Steven, and a great grandma to Aiden, Landon, LauraSue, Drew, and Jazmin.
Joette will be deeply missed; however, her legacy will live on, she will forever be remembered as a loving wife, mom, sister, aunt, cousin, grandma, great-grandma, friend, and child of God (Born Again 11-11-2023). May she forever rest in peace in the arms of Jesus.
Joette was preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, Frank, her parents, Daniel, and Erma, as well as her older brother Kenneth, she also lost her son-in-law, Michael, and two grandchildren, Jonathan Michael, and Amanda Robin, before her passing.
She treasured every moment she spent with her family and friends, and her life will continue to inspire those who knew her. Joette served her country with pride and honor as a military wife and mother. She will always be remembered as a warm-hearted, generous, and caring woman who devoted herself to ensuring her family was always taken care of in the best possible way, leaving behind a legacy of love and dedication.
Darlene’s best thought of her mom is “that no matter where we moved to (and we moved a lot) she created wonderful and comfortable homes for the family.“
Daniel’s best thought of his mom is “One of the main traits I picked up from Mom was organization. From my birth in 1955 to when I left home to start my own life in 1974, we as a family moved a total of 7 times. In each of those new states Mom made the house a home. The thing I learned from Mom was how she organized the home. This is a trait I have to this day. To this day I still follow Mom's rule that everything has its place and that's where it should be.“
David’s best thought of his mom is “Even though we had to relocate about every 2 to 3 years Mom always looked for the best of the locations that the US Military ordered dad and us to. Joette was a woman of strong conviction who lived her life with honor, integrity, and determination and instilled those values in her children and grandchildren. She was always willing to lend a helping hand to her family, neighbors, and friends.
