John F. Kilkelly 1922-2012
90 of Widefield, Colorado, passed away on Saturday, December 1, 2012. John was born July 6, 1922 in Fort Wayne, Indiana to Mary and James Kilkelly. While serving with the U.S. Army in Austria, John met and married Hazel Bradsher in 1950. They had two daughters, Kathleen and Karen. His family accompanied him to postings in Germany and France, and several different states in the U.S. The whole family enjoyed traveling and seeing much of Europe and the USA by car and train. He was a career Army veteran of WWII, Korea and Vietnam with nearly 7 years of enlisted service and 24 years as a Warrant Officer, serving as a cryptographic technician. He retired on January 31, 1975. He received many awards and medals including the Bronze Star, American Campaign Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge, Korean Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and the UN Service Medal. He was both Airborne and Air Assault qualified. After retirement from the Army, John worked for the U.S. Postal Service, and at Ft. Carson, CO. He lived in Widefield, Colorado until the summer of 2010 when he moved to Denver to be closer to his daughters. Kathleen lives with her husband Larry Nelson in Fort Collins, Colorado and Karen lives with her husband, Patrick, in Aurora, Colorado. Grandfather to Julie (Ryan Emond) Supon and Ryan (Danielle) Supon. Great-grandfather to Liam Emond. Brother to Patricia Kiester of Fort Wayne, Indiana. Preceded in death by his wife, and brother Jim.
