John Edward Knabenshue, 76, of Aurora, passed away December 11, 2018.
Our sweet Dad, John Knabenshue, died this morning. He battled lung cancer 2 years ago and was in remission until 2 weeks ago.
He was born March 1, 1942 in Cleveland, Ohio, the son of Edward and Josephine (Bobick) Knabenshue. John was a graduate of Fairmont High School and attended the University of Dayton. John married Loretta Ann Melton on June 16, 1962 in Ohio.
He was a devoted spouse to Mom for over 50 years, an incredible dad to 3 wild sons, loved his daughters in law unconditionally and was an amazing Grampie to his 5 "always perfect in his eyes" grandchildren.
He coached many years for Aurora Sports Youth teams and always saw the best in every kid that he coached. He taught them life lessons through sports, trained them and helped them be the best they could be.
He was well respected in his professional life and could not imagine retiring! He loved his church family at Trinity Baptist both as a deacon and the best chef for men's breakfast.
We are devastated by the hole he leaves in our lives but rejoice that he is dancing in heaven.
John is survived by sons, Chris (Teresa) Knabenshue, Jeff (Julie) Knabenshue, and Tim (Susan) Knabenshue; grandchildren, Lyndsey (Josh) Weyker, Brooke Knabenshue, Jordin Knabenshue, Joshua Knabenshue, and Karlee Knabenshue; and sister, Patricia (John) Sebek. He is preceded in death by his wife, Loretta Ann Knabenshue; and parents, Josephine and Edward Knabenshue.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Baptist Church, 15555 E Quincy Ave, Aurora, CO 80015.
