John Glyn Long, a resident of Aurora, CO, passed away Friday morning at Denver Hospice. He was 83. Mr. Long was born June 9, 1928, in Yanush, OK. He was a prominent businessman in the Denver area, co-owner of United Drywall & Painting with his brother and another longtime friend. Mr. Long is survived by his wife Kathy A. Long of Aurora; three sons, Donald G. Long of Anchorage, AK, John A. Long and his wife Gwen of Aurora, and James C. Long and his wife Cynthia of Castle Rock, CO; three daughters, Glynna K. Hamlin and her husband Skip of Owego, NY, Lori A. Jacobson and her husband James of Parker, and Kristi R. Scott and her husband Phil of Parker; one sister, Vivian Rose of Talihina, OK; two brothers, Norman Long and his wife Mickey of Lakeside, AZ, and Forrest Long and his wife Pauline of Arvada; 14 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Marie Long of Talihina; his brother James of Yanush, and his sister Fern Hampton of Avondale, AZ. Mr. Long was an avid horseman and enjoyed raising and racing thoroughbreds and quarter horses. He was the owner of Cross Triangle Ranches and a Life Member of the Rocky Mountain and American Quarter Horse Associations. He also served in the U.S. Navy. Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 18, at Newcomer Funeral Home in Aurora. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent in memory of John G. Long to Denver Hospice, 8299 E.
