John R. Wansing

October 11, 1934 — September 6, 2015

John R. Wansing, 80, of Aurora, Colorado recently passed away peacefully at home. He was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Diane Marie. He is survived by Linda, his son Paul Wansing (Megan) and grandchildren Vincent and Jordan Diane, of North Providence RI, as well as friends and family both in Colorado and Missouri. He was born and raised in Kansas City, Mo., and had lived in New Mexico and Arizona, as well as Colorado. He graduated from
Northeast High School in Kansas City and attended the University of Missouri on a football scholarship. He served in the Army and was stationed in Korea as a member of the Army Air Corp Peacekeeping Mission. John retired from Yellow Freight Line after more than 40 years as a city driver.

He had a great love for the Western US, New Mexico and Arizona were especially favored by him, and he enjoyed many trips throughout the West with Linda. John developed a love of wood carving after his retirement and he created many beautiful carvings of birds and animals, as well as western images, which he loved giving to others.

John was a gentle soul who will be greatly missed by friends and family. He never wanted to call attention to himself and chose not to have a final service. It was his request that prayers or Memorial Masses be offered by friends and family for the peaceful repose of his soul in heaven.

A private memorial service will be held in Rhode Island at his request. Cremation.

Donations in his memory may be made to The Alzheimer's Association, or Denver Hospice
