John Torp, age 65, passed away on March 21, 2012. Mr. Torp is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Elaine; two daughters, Denise and Joyce; three grandchildren Ryann, Race and Rachel; and his sister Karen Torp.
John was a 45 year member of Local Electrical Union 68 and most recently worked for the City and County of Denver as an electrical inspector. As a skilled woodworker, John lovingly created numerous artistic and practical wood pieces for family and friends to enjoy. Cremation has already taken place. A memorial service will be held April 21st, 10 AM, at Light of Christ Anglican Church 4000 West Yale Avenue, Denver, CO 80219 (303-986-5244).
He was born on April 6, 1946 in Denver. John graduated from Lincoln High School and continued his education, following in his dad's footsteps as a journeyman electrician. He worked for 45 years as an electrician. He was honored with the City and County for taking many classes with them. He also was a member in Electrical Union and he was a business owner. In the later years, he was an Inspector for City and County of Denver.
He met his future wife, Elaine Speelman at Lincoln High School. They married soon after Elaine graduated, had two children and three grandchildren. Besides working, his greatest pleasure was visiting family, friends and spending hours building things with wood in his garage.
He was a great provider and beloved husband of 45 years to Elaine B Torp; loving father to daughters Denise Torp and Joyce Torp; Cherished grandpa to Ryann, Raistlin, and Rachel; Loving brother to Karen Torp. He was preceded in death by his parents John Torp Sr. and June Gage. He will be greatly missed.
