John Claude Stephens

Mr John Claude Stephens passed away on September 22, 2026, in Aurora. He was born on November 8, 1941.

John will be remembered as a man with a great sense of humor and as someone always ready to lend a hand. Those qualities shaped the way he moved through the world and the way he was known by the people around him. He also devoted much of his working life to United, retiring after 37 years of service, a milestone that speaks to his steady commitment and enduring work ethic. His hobbies included cursing at cars, keeping his home and yard beautiful and flying (in his younger years). He spent over a decade studying Tae kwon do at Seo's Martial Arts Academy achieving his third degree black belt while training alongside some of his grandkids. John eventually retired from competing, but his love of the sport continued. He went on to coach, judge, and provide instruction to others, sharing his knowledge and passion with the next generation. 

He is survived by his children, Lisa Todd, Patricia Stephens, John Stephens, and Alan Stephens. His Grandchildren, Robert Todd, Rose Todd, Reba Barker, Devon Shane Miller, Sydni Miranda, Abby Stephens and Morgan Stephens, as well as 8 great grandchildren (at the time of this publishing). Their place in his life stands as an important part of the family he leaves behind, and his memory will continue in the lives they carry forward.

John was preceded in death by his father, Leslie Stephens; his mother, Theresa Stephens; and his sister, Judine Stephens.

He will be remembered with affection for his humor, his helpful spirit, and the quiet, lasting impact of a life faithfully lived.
