Jon Alan Doherty of Jackson, Michigan, and Parker, Colorado passed away on June 1, 2026 from complications of Parkinson’s disease. He was surrounded by his loving family in his final days.
Jon was born on July 25, 1956 in Austin, Minnesota. He was the son of Donald and Eileen Doherty and is survived by his wife, Kathleen; daughter Amanda, her husband, Dan; sister, Gayle Ann; nieces, Shannon, Erin, Jessica Dawna, and nephew, Ryan; his closest friend Robert Halso. Jon is predeceased by his brothers Tom and Charles (Chuck).
Jon and Kathleen were married for 30 years creating together a life filled with laughter and love. They lived in Michigan, Arizona, Ohio, and Colorado, and enjoyed making many lifelong friends in all four states.
Jon was physically active, outgoing, fun – an extrovert with a huge heart. He filled up the room with his presence and could easily be found in a crowded room by his laughter. He loved his job, fishing, planning vacations, and giving extravagant gifts. He had big dreams and loved to talk about his dreams for the future. Jon’s family called him “Mr. Wonderful.” Jon worked in residential construction management and the stories of his practical jokes and workplace antics are legendary. Later in his career he took on the role of mentor and helped many people realize their professional goals in the construction industry. Jon led teams responsible for several residential construction companies winning the JD Power award for excellence in customer service.
