Joseph B. "Rusty" Montoya 78, of Denver entered into Eternal Life on October 7, 2015. Husband of Emily O. Montoya (deceased 2013), Father of four: Joseph Ron (Donielle) Montoya, Joseph Dano (Jennie) Montoya, Boniface Troy Montoya (deceased 2001) and Stephanie (Steve) Montoya. He was a grandfather of nine: Serina, Ashley, Dominic, Shanice, Tanner, Tyler, Elic, Landon, and Gianna; Brother of Esther (Jack deceased) Barney, Juanita (Greg) Suniga, and Cecelia Lorraine Montoya. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Cecelia Montoya. Joseph is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family and friends.
His professional career was as a Multi-Craftsman, Supervisor and a General Contractor. He retired from Coors Brewery in 1998 with thirty-seven years of service. While working full-time at Coors, Rusty and his sons worked as General Contractors within their own business. He was a teacher of many crafts by mentoring his children and teaching them the importance of having a strong work ethic.
Rusty served in the U.S. Army from 1955 to 1957. He was stationed in Japan and Korea for most of his military career. He also served in the Military Reserves from 1957 to 1961. He was an active member of various organizations and groups which included: singing with the Mariachi Alegre, Post Commander of the American Legion 193, a lifetime member of the Elks, and Veterans of Foreign War (VFW).
Rusty was a dedicated, loving, and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and a loyal friend to all who knew him. He was a man of strong faith and had a unique love for life. He was a giving, thoughtful, and caring person who had a passion for music, dance, and above all his family.
