Joe was born in Chicago, Illinois, on Sunday, June 17, 1962 (Father's Day) at 8:55 PM. He died in Lakewood, Colorado on Saturday December 12, 2015 during an afternoon nap.
A very assertive and demanding little guy - the nurses in the hospital where he was born took to calling him "Mr. Roberts".
His early years up to about 5 were in Calumet Park, Illinois.
Then we moved to the South Shore neighborhood on the south side of Chicago, followed by Blue Island, Illinois and later LaGrange, Illinois.
In Blue Island he discovered the guitar, through the Park District, and started a life long love affair with the guitar, specifically the bass guitar. He became a big fan of Pink Floyd, and so many other groups, all music in general. He was even a big fan of Andre Segovia and his classical guitar.
He attended Lyons Township High School, in LaGrange Illinois.
His early employment was on the floor of the stock exchange and the commodity exchange in Chicago as a runner, and he gradually moved up to broker/dealer.
He lived for a while in the western suburbs of Chicago, and married Debbie Grivetti. They subsequently moved to Tucson for about 20 years. After his time in Tucson, he moved to the Denver area, where he lived for some time with Sharolyn Riddle, until the time of his passing.
He and Shar volunteered many hours with the Foothills Animal Shelter in Golden, Colorado. He loved working with the animals, holding them and playing with them, and even adopting a couple of them.
