Joseph P. Owens "Joe"
69, of Denver, Colorado. Passed away on July 22, 2013 in Denver, CO. He was born October 11, 1943 to parents Orval and Joyce Owens in Bradford, PA.
Joe is survived by his loving wife of 49 years Dorothy Ann Owens; sons Joe (Dana) Owens, Tim (Danelle) Owens and Ken Owens; grandchildren Kellen, Onna, Preston, Harrison and Caley; great-grandchild Kellen Joseph "K.J." Owens; sisters Margie (Clint) Wilterding and Letty (Terry) Miller; brother Howard Owens; numerous nieces and nephews.
Joe is preceded in death by his loving parents Orval and Joyce.
Joe started in the Heavy Equipment business at Booth-Rouse Equipment Company in March of 1964 in the Parts Dept. This is where he began to build business relationships with many people he became friends with. In 49 years in the business Joe worked his way to Sales Manager for Booth-Rouse and then chose to enter a business venture with Ken Black at Macdonald Equipment Company.
When Joe and his family moved to Montbello in 1970 he quickly became a valued and trusted member of the community. Joe started with the Montbello Citizen's Committee. This group helped develop the community in its early stages. He also helped start the Montbello Teen Club, Catholic Youth Group, Montbello Falcons, Boy Scout Troop 750 and the Montbello High School Booster Club. With his involvement with all these activities he became a father figure to many young men and women within the community.
Joe belonged to MCP Church of the Ascension since 1971, where he was one of the founding members. Joe belonged to many committees through his years with the church.
Joe's favorite pastime was spending quality time with his family. He was an avid Broncos fan and attended many games with family and friends. There were numerous trips and family outings with many fond memories.
Joe found a way to touch every person he came to know. He will be truly missed and loved by all who knew him.
