Joseph Tenace (aka papa, daddy, Chief, Mr T, Grampa Joe), 74, of Arvada, died Friday December 8, 2017. He was born to Matthew & Rita Tenace on Jan 8, 1943, in Schenectady, NY. He married, Dolores Tenace, the love of his life of 55 years in 1962.
Joe enlisted in the Air Force in 1961 and retired in 1981 as a MSGT at Griffiss AFB. After his 21 years in the military, he worked at MVCC in Rome, NY until his family moved to Arvada, CO in 1990. In CO, Joe worked for the Denver Housing Authority until his retirement there in 2008. After his last retirement, he and Dolly traveled all over the state gambling and fishing. These were their two favorite past times...other than spending time with their grandkids, Jared and Shelby.
Grampa Joe was a constant presence at Jared's improv shows and Shelby's soccer games. Everyone knew and loved Grampa Joe. He took countless pictures and spent many hours creating photo memories for every performer/player. He always said: 'the memories...oh my...the memories are priceless'.
Joe is survived by his wife Dolly, their son Joe, son-in-law Rob, daughter Natalie, son-in-law Troy and his two amazing grandchildren Jared and Shelby. He is also survived by his mother Rita, and sisters Barbara, Dawn and Cindy. He is preceded in death by his father Matthew.
There will be a celebration of Joe's life at a later date. We hope you all will join us.
