Listen to Obituary

Joshua Daniel Reep, born on December 23, 1982, passed away unexpectedly on May 31, 2026, at their home in Deer Trail, Colorado. Their untimely departure was due to a double pulmonary embolism.

Joshua is survived by their parents Gary and Marilyn, 3 brothers Nathan (Nicole), Levi (Helena), and Caleb (Megan), niece Daisy, and nephews William and Michael.

Joshua was known to friends as a kind, empathetic person, who could be trusted to have a strong shoulder to lean on, a willingness to listen with compassion, and an open mind. They showed patience and generosity to those who joined them in their journeys, pastimes and hobbies. Always careful to help those who needed assistance and care, Joshua encouraged kindness, courtesy, and regard in spaces where it was often lacking. They had a remarkable ability to make others feel seen, valued and loved. Among the family, they were known as a gentle giant. Behind those dark sunglasses and flowing beard lay a golden heart.

While passionate about gaming, Joshua was sometimes shy, but when they became your friend it was strong and enduring. They celebrated other peoples' successes and helped coach them through difficulties. Sometimes they helped to carry you through the parts you could not handle on your own. They always wanted to share the joy they found in gaming and cherished the communities they were involved in. As a moderator in some of those communities, they pushed for respectful interaction and to treat people with dignity and grace, always focusing on people as human beings and not just objects. They also had a taste for the humorous and absurd side of gaming and life in general. Quick to share memes and jokes, they could lighten even dark and sour moods. Joshua had developed a love for photography and was quickly honing an artist's eye for good composition and subjects. This new pursuit carried them into the Colorado outdoors which they enjoyed. They had a knack for finding even simple beauty when it came to their photography.

They will be remembered with respect and affection by those who shared in their days. The suddenness of their passing reminds us all of the fragility of life and the importance of cherishing each moment we have. May their memory be a source of comfort and quiet strength to all who were fortunate to know them.
