Karen Louise Maes, 60, of Thornton, died Saturday, July 26th.
She was born to the late Ortis and Lavonne Stengel, Feb. 8th 1954, in Denver, CO. Karen graduated from Highland High School in 1972. She married Robert Maes in 1972, and they lived together in Thornton.
Karen worked for Albertsons for 28 years and also served as a Union Steward. She was passionate for her regular customers and was proud to serve and protect the interests of her fellow employees as a Union Steward.
Karen loved to go camping with her family; she also enjoyed baking and making each and every holiday, birthday or special event one to remember. She touched many lives in many different ways; she was always there to lend a hand or to give guidance to those who needed it.
Karen is survived by her husband of 42 years, Robert Maes; mother, Elise Maes. Two children: Danette Maes; Darick Maes. Two grandchildren: Bricelyn Maes; Adriano Maes. She also is survived by five brothers: Gerry Stengel; Wayne Stengel; Jimmy Stengel; Jeff Stengel and Donnie Stengel.
Memorial Mass at St. Mark Catholic Church, 3141 W. 96th Ave., Westminster at 10:30am on Wednesday, August 6th. Reception to follow service.
