Karen passed away in Denver on April 28, 2025 from complications of Parkinson's Disease. She was 78.
Karen was born on March 6, 1947 in Greeley, Colorado to Spencer and Marianna Kerin. Karen's parents had a sense of humor, naming her Karen Kerin. She loved the novelty of her name. The family moved to Colorado after the war. Karen is survived by her brothers Thomas (Linda) and Eward (Lois) Kerin.
She graduated from Englewood High School in 1965. Following High school, she attended college at the University of Northern Colorado, then known as the University State College in Greeley, with a degree in Education. Karen then spent her 30 year teaching career in the Jefferson County school district.
In 1976, Karen married William (Bill) Schuler, who predeceased her in 2016. They had no children together. After meeting Bill, Karen took up golf, not wanting to become a "golf widow". She fell in love with the game and became quite an accomplished golfer. Following their retirements, Karen and Bill spent most of their time on the golf course, either in Denver or Phoenix, Arizona.
Many thanks to Karen's friends, who assisted her to the end. Special thanks to Joanne Pasqua, Connie Larkin, Mary Barclay and Curtiz Zeigler who helped in so many ways.
As per Karen's request, no services will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the National Parkinson's Foundation.
