Katharina R. Janssen

September 13, 1956 — December 18, 2016

Katharina Rolfkea Janssen, 60, of Golden, died Sunday 12/18/16

She was born to the late Tido and Marianne Janssen, September 13, 1956, in Myrtle Point, Oregon. She finished her High School education and spent her life doing pace work at the Bruno Sheltered Workshop. She lived with her mother, Marianne, in their home in Golden.

Kathy had a spark and true love for life. She always had the heart of a child and truly enjoyed the simplest of joys that life could bring. Any holiday was a treat! She so looked forward to them and planned for them. Christmas was her favorite time of year. She loved the lights, the decorations, the good food and singing all of the joyous Christmas carols. It so delighted her. But her birthday, we were reminded about that months in advance! But she also planned the rest of the family's birthdays months ahead also.

Kathy loved to read. She had the memory of an elephant. She loved sports, especially basketball. She could tell you about all of the players, coaches and anything going on in their lives she knew about it. She would spend hours reading.

She not only read about sports, she read her Bible. She loved life, but more importantly she loved her Lord. She belonged to Bethlehem Lutheran Church where she truly enjoyed worshipping and communing with the fellow believers. She loved to talk and plan, but even more she loved to talk about her Lord. Kathy was a bold witness for her God. She never shied away from telling anyone about God and asking them if they believed. If they didn't she would 'preach on'! She loved her evening devotions and her prayer time, her time to talk to her God. She was a prayer warrior. Everyone that needed a prayer and those that didn't got prayed for. She always said, "I have to pray for my people" She had the strong faith of a child and that is what made her so special. She was so sick at the end and she smiled at us and said, "I want to go home and see my Jesus" She was ready to meet her Lord.

Kathy is survived by her mother Marianne, her sister Helene and brother-in-law, John of Arvada. She was preceded in death by her father Tido.

Love lives, a loved one is taken but their love lives on. Their love is in our hearts and memories. The night before Kathy died she called the family members, told them that she loved them and she hung up the phone. She had to let us know one more time that she loved us and that love lives. . . .."So faith, hope, and love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love" 1 Cor. 13:13
