Katherine G. Godsman
June 21, 1922 – February 8, 2016
Katherine G. Godsman was born on June 21, 1922 in the town of West, Texas to Bill and Frances (Hronie) Gulos. At a young age, the family moved to Waco where Katherine attended school. Katherine attended Baylor University where she received her BA in Business and Psychology in 1942 and her MA in Psychology a year later.
She went to work for the Dean of Boys at Waco High School and then moved to Houston to work for Shell Oil.
Katherine met Mitchell S Godsman, while he was in Waco, in training with the Army Air Corps. They were married in Boston, MA on October 16, 1944.
After WWII ended they moved to Denver with their young daughter, where Mitchell attended The University of Denver and went to work for the Standard Oil Company. After Mitchell's recall for the Korean Conflict ended, Standard Oil moved the family, with two more children, to Michigan.
In the next few years Katherine and Mitchell had three more children. During these years, Katherine worked as a Psychologist with the juvenile court system in St. Joseph, MI, Whirlpool Corporation and later as the Director of Educational Measures for the Grand Haven, Michigan public schools.
She also directed St. Gregory's Boys Choir at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in St. Joseph, Michigan, was Den mother to various Cub Scout Dens and worked with many PTA's.
In 1972 Mitchell's job moved them to Richmond, Virginia where Katherine worked for eleven years as a Psychologist for the Richmond Public Schools.
In 1984 Katherine and Mitchell moved to Grand Junction, Colorado, where they lived for 25 years. Here Katherine continued to work as a Psychologist with Hilltop Learning Center. In later years she volunteered at the Catholic school and tutored children in her home.
Over the years Katherine was well respected in her field and was nominated and listed in Who's Who of American Women, World Who's Who of Women, Personalities of the South, Community Leaders of America and Dictionary of International Biographies.
In 2009 Katherine and Mitchell moved to Lakewood to be closer to their children.
Katherine is survived by three daughters: Charlotte (James Doolittle) Godsman, Lakewood, CO, Connie (Roger) Carr, Thornton, CO, Elizabeth (Jerry) Lunday, Hideaway, TX, three sons: Paul (Deborah), Lakewood, CO William, Denver. CO and Thomas, Fairfax, VA: ten grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren.
Katherine was preceded in death by her husband Mitchell, brothers George and Antone and sister, Anastasia. two infant sons and a grandson, Patrick Doolittle.
The funeral service will be Thursday, February 18, 2016 at 1:00 pm at St. Mary's Anglican Church, located at 2290 South Clayton St. in Denver. Interment will be in Burlington, Colorado.
