Katherine Geary, 89, of Denver, Colorado, passed away on Thursday, May 3rd, 2012. She was born May 24, 1922 in Cedar Rapids, Nebraska to Fred and Sara Donald. When she was a small child her parents relocated to Denver with her and her brother Don. She graduated from Immaculate Conception Cathedral School in Denver, Colorado.
She worked for 10 years at Crane and Allied before meeting and marrying her husband Edward Geary. They were married in 1970 and resided together in their home on Birch St in Denver, Colorado which they remodeled with much enjoyment over the years. She loved to attend C.U and Broncos football games and enjoyed traveling the world. Katherine was an avid bridge player, playing regularly with many couples. She was a member of Christ the King Parish and a former secretary for the Arch Bishop Guild "Queen of Hearts." She was also a volunteer with The Sacred Heart Food Bank.
Katherine had a great love of cooking superb dinners for her familys enjoyment and she loved shopping for a good bargain. The family would like to acknowledge and thank Katherine's dear friend Liz O'Malley for all the help and support she has given to Ed and Katherine during their time of need.
The immediate family would like to give a special show of appreciation to close relatives Ken and Mary Black for their many years of love and devotion to Katherine and Ed. They have always had a special bond throughout the years, spending many holidays and special occasions together and have always worked tirelessly to help them with every need. Their love for them is without boundaries.
Katherine is survived by her loving husband, Edward, daughters Cecilia (Don) Kelley, Marge (Dave) Benes, son Martin (Chris) Geary, grandchildren Josh Kelley, Ed Hoagland, Rob Hoagland, Chad Geary and Trent Geary, 9 great grandchildren and beloved cousins Ken and Mary Black. She is preceded in death by her parents Fred and Sara and her brother Don.
Rosary will be on Tuesday, May 8th, at 3:00 p.m. at Newcomer Family Funeral Home, East Metro Chapel, 190 Potomac St, Aurora, Colorado. Services are being held on Wednesday, May 9th, at 11:00 a.m. at Christ the King Catholic Church, 830 Elm St., Denver, Colorado.
