Kenneth Dewain Love, 81, passed away at Garden Terrace with his wife, Betty, by his side on November 26, 2014.
Kenneth was born in Lincoln Park, MI to James and Evelyn Love. For a short time he worked at the Ford Motor Plant. He retired from the U.S. Army after serving his country for twenty-two years. During his Army career, Kenneth had tours of duty in Korea, Viet Nam, and Thailand. While assigned to the Construction Engineers, he was in charge of camouflaging the media equipment for President Johnson's funeral and of snow removal for President Kennedy's inauguration. After retiring from the Army, he worked as a civilian at Rocky Mountain Arsenal.
Later, he transferred to Fitzsimons Army Medical Center, where he retired as the Chief of Roads and Grounds. To keep himself busy, he went to work part-time at the Colorado Auto Auction. He had a passion for racing stock cars and for his son and grandson's go kart racing. Ken also enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and fishing. For almost 40 years he enjoyed the camaraderie of square dancing. Ken and Betty were indoctrinated in the Denver Area Square and Round Dance Hall of Fame. They were also part of a square that won the gold medal at the Huntsman World Senior Games in St George, Utah.
Kenneth is survived by his wife, Betty; daughter, Linda; son, David, sisters Shirley Smith and Carole Wieczorek, brothers Ron and Don Foss, granddaughters, Stephanie and Ashley, grandsons Javier and Joshua, and a great granddaughter Abigail. He is also survived by six nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting a donation to the memorial fund at Our Saviour Lutheran Church, 6770 Monaco Street, Commerce City, 80022.
