Kraig Alvin McCummings
The life of Kraig Alvin McCummings began with his birth on January 21, 1959, in Trenton, New Jersey, when he was born to the proud parents of James and Catherine McCummings. He was the second child of four children.
As a child, Kraig was raised in the church and has always had a relationship with God. Kraig attended school in the Trenton Public Schools. He was an accomplished athlete and received the Athlete of the Year award and along with a host of many of other awards.
In 1978, Kraig enlisted in the United States Army. He had a meritorious military career. While in the military he earned numerous awards such as the Army Commendation Medal, Southwest Asia Service Medal, Bronze Service Star, National Defense Service Medal, just to name a few. He was also awarded the Desert Storm Medal by the State of New Jersey for exemplary service. Kraig also served during the Desert Shield/Storm War. He loved and collected eagles symbolizing his commitment to his country.
While serving in the Army he met his wife Janice in Wyoming who also was serving in the Army Reserve. They were joined together in holy matrimony on June 24, 1991 in Denver, Colorado. Between the two of them they have three children.
On the early morning of October 30, 2013, Kraig departed this life while in his wife's arms after a long battle with cancer. He never complained about anything during the entire time of his illness and would always say to loved ones that "I got this."
Kraig left to cherish his memory his loving wife Janice Y. McCummings of Aurora, Colorado, his mother Catherine McCummings of Trenton, New Jersey, three children, Craig Jr., Taria, and Sharmaine, two brothers, Kenneth and Kevin, and his sister Karen, four grandchildren and a host of other relatives, and many friends.
Kraig Alvin McCummings will truly be missed! "To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord." 2 Corinthians 5:8. The family and friends of Kraig Alvin McCummings look forward to the day when he will be waiting with open arms to see them again!
