Kurt Lee Shaw, fondly known as "Kurty," departed this world peacefully in his sleep on July 21, 2025. Born on December 19, 1951, in Yellowstone, Montana, Kurt embraced life with a spirit that was both infectious and inspiring. He was a man shaped by ingenuity and creativity, dedicating his career to solutions, including the construction of electric vehicles, AC Cobra replicas, gyrocopters, and satellite and radar dishes. His self-taught prowess as an aeronautical engineer and machinist was a testament to his passion for engineering.
Kurt's personality shone as brightly as his talents. Despite facing health challenges throughout his life, he remained a beacon of positivity, engaging warmly with everyone he met. He possessed an unparalleled ability to forge lasting friendships; those who were fortunate enough to know him were friends for life. From his deep affection for those around him to his hopeless romantic nature, Kurt's interactions were characterized by authenticity and warmth. He had an exquisite gift for making others feel valued and cherished.
Art was another of Kurt's passions. He spent countless hours drawing and sculpting, often collaborating with his dear friends David, Chris Opp to create art and metal sculptures that reflected both his artistic flair and his creative spirit. A keen motorcycle enthusiast, he enjoyed riding with his friend Mike and the exhilaration of the open road, embracing life with a sense of adventure.
Kurt is survived by his devoted friends, David, Holly, Mike, and Nancy, who will forever cherish the memories they built together. He was predeceased by his loving parents, George and Maryjo, and his brother Kevin, who welcomed him with open arms on the other side.
As we remember Kurt, we celebrate a life devoted not only to his craft but to the people he loved. He left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing him, and his spirit will continue to inspire those he touched long after his passing.
