Laird Anthonydeveree Leyba

December 29, 1964 — June 30, 2017

Laird Anthony Deveree Leyba, 52, of Loveland, formerly of Denver, passed away June 30, 2017.

He was born December 29, 1964 in Colorado Springs, Colorado, the son of Richard and Dorothy (Griffin) Leyba.

Laird was a member of the True Vine Tabernacle Church.

Laird loved to play pool. He also enjoyed fishing and was an avid New England Patriots fan. He also loved to drink black coffee. Laird was always trying to invent and patent something. He enjoyed riding his bicycle. Laird was always helping his children any way that he could, including helping with Heather's laundry or picking up dinner for the family. His care would extend to others as well, often giving the clothes off of his back to someone who he felt needed them more than him. He would always try to do more than others than himself. His goal was to open a homeless shelter to help the homeless. He enjoyed eating Heather's trout, claiming that it was the "Best in the World." Laird enjoyed rocks and explaining to others what the type of rock was. He showed off his knowledge at the Denver Museum of Nature & Science to others. He never knew a stranger and could always call on a friend or family member for help or advice. Laird was also a great story teller. He will be remembered as a resilient man who would rebound in the face of adversity. Above all, he was a devoted father and grandfather, taking pride in all of his children and grandchildren and sharing stories about them to others. He was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.

Laird is survived by four daughters, Heather K. (Robert) Cruz, Lauren C. Flores, Hali Flores and Takara A. Leyba; son, Vincente R. Leyba; five grandchildren, Camille Cruz, Gabriella Cruz, Silas Cruz, Isla Cruz and Max Perez; sister, Candace (Filimon Trujillo) Leyba and many uncles including Sam Carpenter, aunts, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

He is preceded in death by father, Richard Anthony Leyba; mother, Dorothy Leyba and sister, Adria Leyba-Rangel.
