Laura Adrian Duarte, 58, of Denver, passed away April 5, 2015.
She was born May 18, 1956 in Glendale, California, the daughter of Raymond and Lona (Rawlings) Duarte. She was a graduate of El Camino Real High School. She attended Metro State.
Laura is survived by her husband, Karl Kornhaus, of 20 years; brother, Lawrence Duarte and sister, Leslie Duarte. She is preceded in death by her parents.
She had a good life, although cut too short. As a child she loved animals and always had a cat or dog. She started with a solid career in accounting but chose to do what she loved most – nails. She continued doing nails until just a few weeks before passing away. She enjoyed her young adulthood and had many adventures. She moved from LA to Denver where she met her life partner, Tom. Together they built a good life with a great home and many delightful vacations to places like Alaska, Mexico, Hawaii, and many US road trips. She did all this while always thinking of others and helping whenever she could. She was ever optimistic even during her ten year long battle with cancer; you could not find a person with more of a smile on her face while enduring so much. Tom was there for Laura during this battle and fought with her each step of the way, he deserves great credit. I will always think of Laura as a wonderful person and sister that I loved.
