LaVerne E. Yeates, 98 of Lakewood, Colorado, passed away peacefully on May 20, 2026 in her home.

She was born October 8, 1927 in Mount Pleasant, Utah to George Earl and Rhoda Cloward, and always thought of Provo as her home. LaVerne graduated from Provo High school in 1945 and then began a successful career with the Mountain Bell telephone company. That career would lead her to live and work throughout Wyoming, Utah and Denver, Colorado. After meeting each other through work, she married Carlos Yeates in 1975, and together they shared 40 beautiful years and eight children. After retiring in 1980, Carlos and LaVerne began traveling the world together and playing golf whenever and wherever possible. LanVerne never met a stranger. Her shining personality drew people to her. She was always the life of the party and lit up every room she entered. She was active in her church and served a mission with Carlos, helping to open the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints Temple in Denver, Colorado. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and was passionate about sports! LaVerne is survived by her children Earl, Ann, Karla, and Jan, stepsons Ballard and Richard, 12 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
