Linda E. Mendoza, 67, of Trinidad, passed away November 28, 2015.
She was born February 1, 1948 in Trinidad, Colorado, the daughter of Elias and Ascencion Mendoza.
Doctors said that Linda would not live past puberty due to her disability and she lived to be 67 years old. Linda surpassed all odds.
Her family taught her to walk on her own, to take care of herself and be independent. By our Mother's example, Mom instilled in her to love God and keep the faith. Linda attended church regularly, believed in God and prayer and she knew she was going to heaven.
Linda was an active member of the Trinidad community for many years and then moved to Bennett, CO. She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and worked at the Trinidad Disability Center and was their #1 producer.
She had lots of friends and always greeted everyone with a big beautiful smile and a warm hug. She enjoyed taking walks, singing and dancing and being with her family.
Linda was a gift to everyone she met by her smile and hospitality to all when they visited her. All the children loved Linda and they formed a special bond with her. Linda will be greatly missed by all her loved ones.
Linda is survived by three sisters, Gloria (Ed) Gonzales, Patricia (Robert) Martinez, and Katherine Mendoza; brother, Elias Mendoza, Jr.; 18 nieces and nephews; and numerous great-nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, Elias and Ascencion Mendoza; brothers, David and Gilbert Mendoza; and sister, Lydia Maes.
Pallbearers: Matthew Chmara, Eddie Trujillo, Rick Maes & Aaron Gonzalez (nephews); Anthony Armijo, & David Ortiz (long time friend of family).
