Linda J. Leonard

Linda Jean Leonard, affectionately known as “Nana” was welcomed into heaven on July 28, 2026. Reaching her 80th birthday, she lived a full and loving life. She left indelible touches of joy on all she met.

Linda was born on July 22, 1946 to Delores and Gene Winklepleck in Denver, Colorado. She enjoyed working the garden with her parents, and they bestowed on her their love of camping and the mountains.

Ever the student, Linda received a full scholarship to the University of Denver, where she excelled. She graduated with a degree in Education.

She also met and married the love of her life, Pat Leonard on August 17, 1968. They made a home in Green Mountain and eventually settled in Littleton. They welcomed a son, Patrick, and a daughter, Dawnell, to complete their family.

Throughout her teaching career, Linda’s classrooms were filled with curiosity, wonder, and love. She spent later years coaching and leading other teachers in best practices in the classroom. After retiring, Linda demonstrated her love of the Denver community by working for Volunteers of America in the Foster Grandparent program. Linda loved every person she met.

She continued her love of learning and sharing by volunteering at Dinosaur Ridge. She was active in Columbine United Church for over 45 years and was part of many community groups including her sorority.

An avid traveler with her husband, Pat, they visited numerous countries and continents, including Australia.

Linda was predeceased by her parents, Delores and Gene Winklepleck, her beloved sister Pam. She is survived by her husband Pat, her brother David (Vicki) Winklepleck, her son Patrick (Mandy) Leonard, her daughter Dawnell (Matt) Kring, two grandsons, Will and Henry Leonard, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

To commemorate Linda’s blessed life, a celebration of life will be held on Saturday, August 15, 2026, at 2:30 p.m. at the following location. Reception to follow:
