Lloyd Booker T. Smith, 66, of Aurora, passed away February 23, 2017.
He was born December 16, 1950 in Zwolle, Louisiana, the son of Joseph and Onetha (Aldredge) Smith. He was a graduate of George Washington High School. He attended University of Colorado Boulder and Art Institute of Colorado.
He married Shirley Smith, of Aurora, Colorado. Lloyd loved his family and friends dearly whom he was very compassionate towards. He had a special bond with his grandchildren and he adored them all helping them through life with words of inspiration and spending quality time with them.
His career at Marathon Oil as a chemist lasted 26 years. One of his joys was cooking throughout his life, and he acquired a degree in culinary arts. All who knew him anticipated the summer months to partake in his barbecue cuisine which was cooked with his special blend of spices. He took great pride in helping people as I am sure his many friends can attest to, if a person needed something he was sure to be there. Some friends as a term of endearment referred to him as Lloydy B.
His love of family was evident in the lessons he provided as well as all the stories of life from his native birthplace Zwolle, Louisiana. Lloyd made his place in the world he will truly be missed by his family, and the many friends who revered him.
Lloyd is survived by his wife, Shirley Smith; three children, Patsy (Jeff) Rausch, Alana Anderson, and Anton (Hannah Wilks) Smith; four grandchildren, Calvin Rausch, Piper Rausch, Rachel Taylor, and Daryus Charles.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Smith and Onetha Lee; brother, Joseph Smith, Jr.; and sister, Lynette Aldredge.
