Loren, grandpa was always an "old timer" even in his younger years he was always talking about the "old days." On a quick little car ride with him he would go into his stories of what used to be where and how things used to be. He loved going to and talking about Lakeside amusement park. His dad helped build the Cyclone roller coaster, and him and grandma used to go there dancing and listen to the big bands. He was very proud of his Swedish heritage and would pass on stories from his mom. He loved to read Louie L'Amour books and the man loved his food, especially his desserts. Buffets were his favorite places to go eat, and he had no problem bringing back 3 different desserts. He was kind of a pack rat, he kept everything under the sun, because you never knew if something would come in handy or be important. Grandma was always trying to sneak stuff into the trash but somehow he always knew about it and would go dig stuff back out of the trash. He loved to shoot the shit with everyone he came across. He would talk your ear off if you let him, grandma after calling his name a few times would shake her head and walk away, sometimes she would have to drag him away. You couldn't help but chuckle watching those 2 interact with each other. For as long as I can remember grandma and grandpa went on their evening walks around the neighborhood after dinner, it was a tradition that was hardly skipped. His happiest times were out at his mother-in-laws farm tending to his cows. Phoenix was his home away from home. He was born in Colorado, but due to is health the family had to move to a drier climate, so they spent many years in Phoenix, before having to move back to Colorado. Him and grandma were married for 63 years, and even when his Alzheimer's got so bad that he had to be put in a nursing home she still visited him on a regular basis until her death in 2010. Grandpa passed away peacefully in his sleep.
