Loretta Caroline Hansen

Loretta Caroline Hansen of Denver, CO passed away unexpectedly on July 25, 2026. She was born on September 1, 1934 on a farm near Marble, Madison County, Arkansas. She married Daniel D. Hansen on June 20, 1952 in Rawlins, Wyoming. On April 23, 1953, Loretta and Dan gave birth to their son, Richard D. Hansen.

Losing her beloved husband Dan and a bit later, her son, Dick/Rick were real blows. However, after they passed, she persevered and forged on as she had done all her life, knowing that they would all have a reunion in heaven someday. There was no more dedicated, hardworking or compassionate care giver than Loretta when it came to the needs of her family.

Loretta was devoted to her Lord, and prayed regularly for her family and friends. One fond memory was how she went to her dad after church as a teen, asking him to go forward to give his life to Christ, and he lived for Jesus the rest of his days. Loretta was an active member of Southwest Community Church and she treasured visits with her “church family” each Sunday as wells as periodic lunches with Karen Almquist and other church members. Her neighbors, Ron and Evan Torres and Beth Buss, were also a big help to Loretta.

Loretta also was very devoted to her family and friends. Over the years, she sent literally hundreds of birthday cards, anniversary cards and other greetings each year. She even knew the birth dates of her grandnieces and grandnephews by heart, some whom she had never met. Some of them were so touched to receive a greeting from her when they were away at college, for instance. A nephew received a birthday card and a grandniece received an anniversary card the day before she passed away, and both knew that they had received her last cards. She truly enjoyed periodic “get aways” with her niece Carol Jones and Carol’s daughter Hilary Jones and Hilary’s son Christopher Jones. She had a great time with many family members to celebrate her 90th birthday in Sinclair, Wyoming where she spent her growing up years until she graduated from high school,

Loretta’s independent spirit, focus and organizational habits, tidiness and house cleaning abilities were legendary to all who knew her. Even today, one would be hard pressed to find a speck of dust or dirt in her house.

Although we will no longer receive greeting cards from Loretta, our memories of her will last forever. Loretta is survived by her sister Eva Barnett, brother Everett Grubb and brother Michael Grubb and many nephews, nieces and cousins. She was predeceased by her parents, Clay S. Grubb and Vina Myers Grubb, her husband, her son, a sister Wilma Williams and a brother Frank Grubb.

Newcomer Funeral Home is handling arrangements to honor Loretta’s life. Visitation will be held from 9:15 to 10:30 am on August 31, 2026 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 901 S Sheridan Blvd. Lakewood, CO with a graveside service to follow at 11:00 am at Olinger Crown Hill Cemetery, 7777 W 29th Avenue, Wheat Ridge, CO, with Pastor Mark DuNooy officiating.
