Loretta J McCloskey, 83, passed away on June 11, 2026. Loretta was married to Daniel in 1963. They had 2 children, 2 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
Loretta was talented – she was an artist, drawing and painting pictures, making crafts including Christmas ornaments, making baby blankets by hand; she made porcelain dolls and clothes for her children when they were young. She was a part of the sewing circle at her church. Loretta learned how to tie flies that were used by her and her family on countless fishing vacations in the mountains. Loretta even taught her children how to tie flies. She could fix anything, if she didn’t know how to do it, she’d figure it out.
Loretta was an excellent cook, always preparing delicious meals for her family and she made the best pie ever! But her favorite past time was gardening. Loretta was meticulous about her yard. She worked so hard and it showed, she had the most beautiful flowers in her yard. It is so colorful.
Loretta held different employment positions through the years. Loretta was a Personal Assistant to Fred and Fae Taylor who hosted the Fred and Fae Show in KLZ Radio and Tv (Channel 7). Loretta was a Dental Assistant, a Sales Associate at May D&F Department Store and a Homemaker.
Loretta had a servant’s heart as evidenced by the way she took incredible care of her family. She was a beautiful soul and tough as nails. Loretta was an exceptional wife, mom, grandma, great grandma, sister, sister-in-law, daughter, aunt and friend/neighbor. She is missed beyond words.
Loretta is survived by her daughter, son-in-law, grandchildren, great grandchildren, sister, sister-in-law, aunts and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Loretta is preceded in death by her spouse of just shy of 62 years, her son, parents, brother and relatives.
