Lorraine F. Hockman

August 9, 1950 — July 8, 2015

Lorraine F. Hockman, 64, of Denver, passed away July 8, 2015.

She was born August 9, 1950 in Denver, Colorado, the daughter of Murrell and Eileen (Barnes) Stevens. She was a graduate of Abraham Lincoln High School. She attended Denver Baptist Bible College and later graduated from Bob Jones University with a BA in Piano Performance. On May 13, 1978 she married Art Hockman.

Lorri was know nationally for her musical ability and talent. An accomplished pianist and arranger, she has been heavily involved in the music ministry of three Denver area churches: South Sheridan Baptist(now know as Red Rocks Baptist), Woodside Baptist Church and Beth Eden Baptist Church. After graduation from college, she traveled for six years with Life Action Ministries and Light Ministries all across the United States. Her piano arrangements were published by The Wilds Christian Camp and Conference Center in Brevard, North Carolina.

For many years until her homegoing, she taught piano and mentored many young musicians, some of whom are now serving in churches locally and across the country. Many of her students won national piano competition awards at the American Association of Christian School Fine Arts Competition.

She began to play the accordion when she was five years old. Upon hearing her play, Myron Florin, long time accordionist for Lawrence Welk told her that she was "one of the finest women accordionists that he had ever heard".

For many years, Lorri was the Director of the American College of Musicians Piano Guild in Denver and also served as a Piano Guild Judge. She was a godly and faithful Christian who touched many lives for her Lord.

Lorraine is survived by her Husband, Art Hockman; Daughter, Shannon Hockman; Two Sisters, Kathy (Don) Labun, Sherry Craig; Niece, Clorinda (Kenneth) White; three great-nephews, Junior White, Cody White and Dante White.

She is preceded in death by Father, Murrell F. Stevens and Mother, Eileen L. Stevens.
