Luis F. “Castro” Calderon, a beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away on July 7, 2025, after a private battle with illness. He was born on September 17, 1935, in Puerto Rico, and later made Denver, Colorado, his lifelong home.
A devoted and longtime member of Rocky Mountain Lodge #1, Castro was known for his generosity, humor, and loving spirit. Thoughtful and kind, he had a gift for bringing people together and filling their lives with laughter and unforgettable memories. He was always willing to share his many talents with family and friends, leaving an indelible mark on everyone who knew him.
Castro shared a special bond with his daughter, Janice, cherishing her since childhood and growing even closer as the years went on. His three grandchildren, Jevon, Zariah, and Zamia, each held a unique and cherished place in his heart, and he adored his great-grandsons, Le’veon and Jevon, Jr.
He is survived by his daughter Janice (Darnell), granddaughters Zariah and Zamia, and great-grandsons Le’veon and Jevon. He was preceded in death by his parents and his grandson Jevon.
A Memorial Service honoring Castro’s life will be held on Sunday, August 31, 2025, at 4:00 p.m. at Rocky Mountain Lodge #1, 4200 E. Colfax Avenue, Denver, CO 80220.
Castro will be remembered always for his warmth, generosity, and the love he poured into his family and community.
