Luther G. Jordan

LUTHER JORDAN
July 24, 1932 – March 16, 2014

Luther had a full life from the day he was born to Effie Belle Humphries and Clyde Jordan on July 24, 1932, in Olive Hill, Kentucky.

He enjoyed his childhood with his brothers: John Arthur, Elroy, twins Bobby Gene and Charles Dean, Roger, and his sisters: twins Faye and Raye, and Myrtie May.

He left home at the age of 15 and went to Ohio for work; then he joined the Army and served 2 years active duty and 6 years in the Reserves. While stationed at Fitzsimons Army Hospital at Lowry Air Force Base in Denver, Colorado, he met his first wife, Gayle Ferguson. Luther and Gayle were married for 54-1/2 years until Gayle's passing in 2009. They had three daughters: Debbie, Diana, and Brenda.

Luther remained in Colorado while raising his family and made a career in manufacturing as a Precision Machinist. He also helped Gayle in her custom drapery and decorating business.

When Lou wasn't working, he was busy converting bread vans and school buses into campers and motor homes, painting cars, waterskiing, camping, hunting and fishing, and roller skating with family and friends.

He has two grandchildren, Wayne Luether Bailey and Michael Dwayne Carrier (sons of Diana and Debbie). He has three great grandchildren: Jordan, Dylan, and Kaytlin.

Lou found new love with Shirley Jordan and they married June 13th, 2011. They cherished their short time together with a promise of love to last "always and forever."

Lou will be remembered by numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, in-laws, friends, and family.

Let us pray that God will watch over Luther as he leaves this life and continues his journey, and also that God give strength to all who knew and loved him.
