Lyle R. Abitz

Lyle R. Abitz, 83, of Lakewood, Colorado, passed away at home on October 27, 2026.He was born on December 12, 1942, in Wausau, Wisconsin, the son of Lyle E. Abitz and Margareth A. Wolfe Abitz. Lyle was a devoted husband of 58 years, loving father, and cherished grandfather. He was a man who believed in working hard, standing strong, and always protecting the people he loved. Without a doubt, he was one of the hardest-working men you could ever meet. He put his heart and soul into everything he did.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Margaret A. Abitz; two daughters, Tonya Mertens and Lori West; Seven siblings, Catherine Coscio, Carole Abitz, Mark Abitz, Douglas Abitz, Dean Abitz, Dianna Reynolds, and Sharon Williams; six grandchildren, Shannon Mertens, Randall West II, Shayla West, Rachel Bristow, Jannessa West, and Shane West; and nine great-grandchildren, Alexander Murillo, Memphis Campos, Daisy Munguia, Siena Melendez, Serenity West, Illianna West, Valencia Melendez, Marlena Ibarra, and Amario West.

Viewing will be held November 11, 2026, from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. at Newcomers Mortuary, 901 South Sheridan Boulevard, Lakewood, CO 80226. Funeral services will be held November 12, 2026, at 10:30 a.m.at Newcomers Mortuary, with burial service immediately following at Fort Logan National Cemetery.
